A spectacular example of potter Pru Green's work at Alvingham in Lincolnshire. This covered jar has wonderful swirly glossy brown/iron red glaze decoration and is determined to be dedicated to “Coffee” but I won't tell if you perversely decide to keep Tea Bags in it! Signed Alvingham and 1980 on the base it stands 18cms high and is approx 15cms diameter. I know there’s an “awful lot of coffee in Brazil” but it might cost a small fortune these days to fill it with beans? Perhaps it would just be the perfect camouflage for a small jar of instant?! No chips or cracks that I can see-photographed standing with a hand thrown coffee can & saucer so that you can fully appreciate the scale of this piece.
